Overview
Whether you are a customer who has been using Cloudflare services for a number of your websites or Internet properties or you are someone who signed up for a Cloudflare account but never activated any zones on the Cloudflare service, this article will help you understand how to cancel the Cloudflare service and delete your personal information from Cloudflare’s systems. Before canceling your account, contact Cloudflare Support to help you troubleshoot any issues. Issues are often resolved by making minor changes to Cloudflare account settings.
Prerequisites
Before Cloudflare can cancel your account and delete your personal information, you will need to follow the process below for each domain associated with your Cloudflare account:
- Cancel your subscriptions or add-on services
- Remove your domain from Cloudflare
- Remove Cloudflare nameservers at your domain registrar
- Disable auto-renew for your Registrar domain(s)
5. Delete payment information
Delete your Cloudflare account
After completing the prerequisites above, you can delete your user account.
1. Log in to the Cloudflare dashboard.
2. Click the user icon. Then, click My Profile.
3. In the Communication tab, click Delete this account at the bottom of the page.
4. Enter your email and password.
5. Type DELETE
to confirm.
6. Complete the hCaptcha and click Delete.
The email associated with a deleted account cannot be reused for up to a year after deactivation.
Removing a domain from Cloudflare

Before removing your domain
If you experience website issues, we recommend temporarily pausing Cloudflare first and evaluating your website’s performance.
If you still want to remove your domain from Cloudflare, you should do the following:
When you remove a domain from Cloudflare, it also prevents your domain from using Cloudflare for DNS resolution.
To avoid DNS errors, update your nameservers at your domain registrar to use nameservers not owned by Cloudflare. You will also need to disable DNSSEC by removing the DS record at your registrar (if enabled) to make this change.
Before removing your domain, we recommend that you confirm that your nameservers are no longer pointing to Cloudflare.
Within Cloudflare
Before removing your domain from Cloudflare, you need to:
- Disable DNSSEC within the Cloudflare dashboard (and the remove the DS record at your registrar)
- Cancel active add-on subscriptions (your plan will be cancelled automatically)
- If using Cloudflare Registrar:
- Disable domain auto-renewal OR
- Transfer your domain out of Cloudflare
Remove a domain activated in Cloudflare
1. Log in to Cloudflare.
2. Select the domain you wish to delete.
3. Cancel DNSSEC if you have it enabled.
4. Remove all domain auto-renew and/or other paid plan extensions.
5. At your domain’s registrar, change the nameservers away from Cloudflare.
6.After the nameserver change propagates, log in to Cloudflare and select the domain you wish to delete.
7. In the Overview app scroll down to Advanced Actions.
8. Click Remove Site from Cloudflare.
9. In the Remove Site dialog, click Confirm to proceed.
