For the life of me I can not figure out why this is happening.

It only happens to a small % of computers in our office and the computers vary between new computers that were recently deployed and old computers that have been here for over a year.

I can ping the printer from command prompt without issue and connect to it via IE or any web browser.

Ive tried installing the Microsoft hot fix https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/982728 but that does not work.  It says:

no matter which version of the hotfix I try.

So i found a work around which was to:

  • Go to the C:\Windows\system32\ directory and find the file “mscms.dll“Copy that file to:
  • C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3\ if you are using 64-bit Windows 7
  • C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\ if you are using 32-bit Windows 7

but that did not work either.

So I dug a little more and found an article stating it was a driver issue and to delete the drivers via a command :

  • printui.exe /s /t2

This produced a new result when trying to install the printer, but it still failed and gave me the same error.

Which leads me to believe this may be a driver issue, but I dont understand how that would be possible if it works on other W7 x86 and x64 bit machines.

Then i tried deleting the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

and restarting the Print Spool service but still to no prevail.

So I am out of ideas and was wondering if anyone had come across this issue before or has any input on the subject.

The printer is a Konica Minolta bizhub C368.

I had a client with printing issue to one shared printer (isolated to this particular workstation).

I was initially getting 0x00000079 when attempting to reinstall the printer, removed drivers from C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers

then removed all instances of the printer name in the registry it was named UPSTAIRS COLOR PRINTER…

Then i received 0x00000006 error, I followed your method above and resolved the issue, I was then able to reinstall the printer and everything is working great.
